A slow-cooked take on a Hungarian classic. Melt-in-your-mouth beef cheeks are braised with sweet paprika, caraway, root vegetables, and waxy potatoes, then finished with Csipetke—traditional hand-pinched pasta. Deep, warming, and layered with old-world flavour, this is comfort food with character.

Serving Suggestion: Best enjoyed with a dollop of sour cream or crème fraîche and a slice of good sourdough to mop up the juices.

Ingredients

Beef cheeks, pork lard, onions, garlic, Hungarian sweet paprika, Hungarian hot paprika, caraway seeds, bay leaves, black pepper, salt, carrots, celery parsnip, potatoes,beef stock, sherry vinegar, hand-pinched egg pasta (Csipetke: wheat flour, egg, salt).

Oven (from frozen):
Preheat fan oven to 175°C.
Remove lid and place tray in the oven.
Heat for 40 minutes until piping hot.
Ensure a core temperature of 75°C.
Rest for 3–5 minutes before serving.
Caution: tray and contents will be hot.

Stovetop (recommended for best texture):
Place contents in a small saucepan with 1 tablespoon of water.
Cover and heat gently over medium heat.
Bring slowly to the boil, stirring once halfway through.
Take care not to boil too vigorously to avoid breaking up the meat.
